Sevoflurane impairs neurogenesis and cognitive function by suppressing fatty acid β-oxidation (FAO) through the nuclear peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα)/carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1a (CPT1a) pathway in neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) of the developing brain.
