Inside the lab of the research vessel Atlantic Explorer, researchers work in tandem to collect samples from marine surface waters for multiple measurements of biological diversity and function. Samples were frozen on the ship and then returned to labs at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and its collaborators for various analyses.
