Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease Progression (IMAGE)

This coral in Fish Bay, St. John (U.S. Virgin Islands) shows the rapid progression of stony coral tissue loss disease. Observed and sampled during the study, it appeared dark brown and healthy in July 2020, but showed clear signs of disease by January 2021. By May 2021 the entire colony had died.
