A western chimpanzee sitting in a tree laden with fruit at Ngogo in Uganda. UC Berkeley graduate student Aleksey Maro tracked these chimps in the summer of 2025 as they gorged on the sweet fruit of the African star apple, Gambeya albida. Maro then collected their urine to test for metabolic byproducts of ethanol ingestion.
