Rooftop solar in Malawi

While a growing number of households in Malawi have access to solar technologies, most have only the means to add a small system like the small white rectangle near the center of the roof of this building. The median power of these devices is about 6 watts, while households needed at least 50 watts to unlock the most meaningful energy services, according to new research led by the University of Michigan.
