Variations in the light scattering behavior of human milk (IMAGE)
Caption
Researchers have quantified the biological variation in the optical and physical properties of human milk, including the refractive index, size distribution and concentration of milk particles (MFG: milk fat globule, EV: extracellular vesicle). Next, they investigated which of these properties were most predictive for variations in the light scattering behavior of human milk – which were the fat concentration and size distribution of the milk fat particles (MFGs). These findings aid to the future development of light scattering based methods for human milk analysis.
