A zebrafish’s regenerating kidney (VIDEO)
Caption
A new filtration unit, the nephron, forms from cells aggregating directly an old tubule (the plumbing that regulates tissue fluid composition while removing waste to the urine). Near the bottom of the image, green protrusions emerge, leading to a functional connection between new nephron and old tubule.
