Black phosphorus for future batteries: big promise, big challenges (IMAGE)
Caption
This schematic overview shows the balance of opportunities and challenges associated with black phosphorus as an anode material for alkali metal-ion batteries. The material combines high theoretical capacity, favorable ion diffusion, large interlayer spacing, and high surface area, but also faces key obstacles such as poor chemical stability, moderate conductivity, severe volume expansion, and difficult scalable synthesis.
