Tumor Removal in Recurrent Craniopharyngioma Surgery (IMAGE)
Caption
Surgical removal of recurrent craniopharyngiomas is particularly challenging due to their location near the optic nerves and optic chiasm, which are critical for vision. Even minor injury to these structures can result in lasting visual impairment. Intraoperative monitoring of visual evoked potentials during extended endonasal endoscopic surgery may help detect early signs of stress to the visual pathway, allowing surgeons to adjust their approach and reduce the risk of postoperative vision loss.
