Computer simulation snapshots of a dense mixture of motile particles (red) and proliferating particles (blue). Left: At low self-propulsion, the motile particles spontaneously condense into dense, crystal-like clusters. Right: At only slightly higher self-propulsion, the effective attraction is overcome and the clusters start dissolving.
