Fluorescence Imaging of Labeled Furyl-Gramicidin S in S. aureus

Fluorescence microscopy image of a Staphylococcus aureus culture after the addition of the fluorescently labeled furyl-gramicidin S. The membrane-binding antibiotic was labeled at the furan-bearing side chain of the furylalanine with a maleimide-coupled umbelliferyl fluorophore.
