This is a confocal section of an embryo where in one half (right; cells with cyan nuclei), adhesion is decreased by using an optogenetic tool. The left half is epithelialised with tricellular contacts, while in the right half, there are large pores/intercellular spaces. An adhesion protein is tagged, shown in pink-orange.
