The image shows a subset of chromosomes from a metaphase spread from U2OS cells- an osteosarcoma cell line that utilizes the Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres (ALT) pathway of telomere maintenance. Chromosomes (blue ) are visualized using a DAPI stain and we performed Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) to label telomeres in green and centromeres in pink. The asterisks indicate a chromosome that harbors centromeric sequences at telomeres.
