Researchers developed a new system to fire tiny beads and test how polymer films would react to projectile impacts. The top row, in color, shows a 3D-view of the exit-side of impacts. The middle row shows SEM images of the hole, with the red line show the size of the projectile. The bottom row shows the deformation zones of the holes.
