Summer Evening (IMAGE)
Caption
The painting "Summer Evening” from 1893 by Halfdan Egedius was originally titled "The Night Runners” and refers to the custom where boys, late at night after a party, would sneak hopefully into the storehouses where girls slept. The painting has also been interpreted as depicting a relationship between two men, walking in close intimacy, surrounded by a glowing, vibrant outline.
