Standard cup to the left, and dual mobility cup to the right

The new type of cup, referred to as a dual-mobility total hip replacement (DM‑THR) is to the right. It consists of a small ball encased in a much larger plastic ball, which gives better stability. The standard cup with just one ball is to the left.
