Labor Mobility Buffers Heat-Induced Supply-Chain Losses (IMAGE)
Caption
Labor mobility buffers heat-induced supply-chain losses. This infographic summarizes key findings from a 313-city study on occupational heat stress in China. Annual losses reached 2,933.5 billion CNY (2.6% of GDP), with 59% stemming from supply-chain cascades. Labor mobility offset direct damages in net-inflow regions, saving 7.2 billion CNY directly and 24.6 billion CNY indirectly. Under 2030 warming (SSP3-7.0), losses may rise 1.6-fold, though adaptation could cut them by 30%. Declining future mobility may weaken this compensation effect.
