Organic Cluster with Well-Defined Structure (IMAGE)
Caption
· 3D cyclic hydrocarbon scaffolds (cyclohexane and adamantane) encapsulate electron-rich moieties –OH and –COOH) to form isolated organic clusters with well-defined structures.
· The steric framework ensures intra-cluster distances (rw) permit orbital overlap while keeping inter-cluster distances (r) beyond van der Waals contact, suppressing extended through-space conjugation.
· Under 254, 312, and 365 nm UV irradiation, these clusters produce visible photoluminescence and excitation-dependent afterglows, proving that complex electronic interactions occur within a single isolated cluster.
