Dual-side electrosynthesis converts plastic waste and biowaste into succinic acid (IMAGE)
Caption
A dual-side electrosynthesis system simultaneously converts plastic-derived 1,4-butanediol and biomass-derived maleic acid into succinic acid at both electrodes. In a continuous-flow electrolyzer, the system achieves a succinic acid yield of 169.1%, exceeding the conventional single-electrode limit and offering a profitable pathway for circular chemical manufacturing.
