Sintering curves and microstructures of Al2O3/TiCp ceramic composites sintered under hot oscillatory pressing (IMAGE)
Caption
In the hot oscillatory pressing, the in‑situ displacement curves exhibit a pronounced hysteresis behavior in the Al2O3/TiCp ceramic composites, indicating that the grain boundaries behave like viscoelastic fluids under cyclic pressure, thereby facilitating particle rearrangement and pore elimination. This reciprocating (cyclic) sliding of grain boundaries not only significantly reduces both grain‑boundary energy and grain‑boundary thickness, but also effectively suppresses grain growth.
