Energetic perovskite DAP-4 is restricted in propellants by its high decomposition temperature. Fe-doped carbon composites were prepared from biomass and used as catalysts which effectively reduce the decomposition temperature and activation energy of DAP-4, shorten combustion time and boost combustion performance. Dispersed FexOy accelerates reactions via promoted hydrogen transfer, and the catalytic mechanism is illustrated.
