Schematic illustration of the ZnS@Fe-NSC catalyst synthesis (IMAGE)
Caption
The ZnS@Fe-NSC catalyst is synthesized through an in-situ sulfidation strategy using a single sulfate precursor. During pyrolysis, Fe is incorporated into the ZIF-8 framework, sulfate (SO42-) decomposes to provide sulfur for both S-doping into the carbon matrix and formation of ZnS nanoparticles. This one-step process yields a unique architecture featuring atomically dispersed Fe-N4 active sites synergistically coupled with S-doping and adjacent ZnS nanoparticles, which collectively enhance both the catalytic activity and long-term stability for electrochemical CO2 reduction to CO.
