How Genetic Changes Drive Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension? (IMAGE)
Caption
Research has identified several genes linked to pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), including BMPR2, SOX17, TBX4, and KCNK3. Many of these genes influence the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway, which helps regulate blood vessel function. Disruptions in these pathways can promote abnormal cell growth, resistance to cell death, and narrowing of the pulmonary arteries, contributing to PAH development and progression.
