Damage initiation strength is one of the key mechanical parameters of solid propellant when assessing the safety of solid propellant grain. By combining the thermo-viscoelastic constitutive theory and force-heat equivalence energy density principle, a temperature and strain rate dependent damage initiation strength model for solid propellant was developed. Comparing with the commonly experimental elastic modulus method, the new proposed model only needs a series of stress relaxation test, and it is more convenient and low cost.
