The sounds of two porpoise during a bycatch event (AUDIO)
Caption
The sounds of two porpoise during a bycatch event. One is entangled in the net attempting to swim to the surface. The porpoises are producing echolocation clicks to sense their surroundings and also rapid sequences of clicks (a buzzing sound) that are communication (likely distress) calls. Note that humans cannot hear porpoise clicks - these recordings have been altered to make the clicks audible to humans.
