nine early galaxies (IMAGE)
Caption
An international team of researchers, including Penn State physicists, leveraged NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope to study nine massive, mature galaxies that ceased forming stars billions of years ago. Based on their spectra, the astronomers determined that these galaxies probably contain far more relatively small stars than previously thought.
