Hierarchical structure, self-lubrication mechanisms and tribological potential of high-entropy ceramics: A systematic review framework (IMAGE)
Caption
A dual-pathway and four-dimensional research framework summarizing the tribology of high-entropy ceramics (HECs). Two self-lubrication routes (“reservoir-release” of externally introduced lubricants and in-situ adaptive lubrication) and six representative HEC material systems are presented, underpinned by characteristic high-entropy effects. Four core research dimensions covering potential applications, optimization strategies, current challenges, and future directions are outlined.
