In a new study, researchers at the Universit of Iowa offer a simple way to help children learn. By combining spoken instructions with hand gestures — such as pointing, demonstrating, or using movements to illustrate an idea — adults can help children stay engaged and understand information more easily. The study also shows that the quality of time spent learning together may matter more than the amount of time, giving families a practical strategy they can use during homework and everyday instruction.
