Co-melting and controlled crystallization of Cr3+-doped MgNb2O6 transparent glass-ceramics: Mg/Nb ratio tuning, dual-site Cr3+ occupancy, and broadband NIR luminescence (IMAGE)
Caption
Schematic of the co-melting and controlled crystallization strategy for Cr3+-doped MgNb2O6 transparent glass-ceramics. By tuning the Mg/Nb ratio in the SiO2–Na2O glass matrix, single-phase MgNb2O6 (Pbcn) microcrystals are precipitated, in which Cr3+ simultaneously occupies Mg2+ and Nb5+ octahedral sites. XRD and SEM confirm the formation of the GC, and the material exhibits dual-center broadband NIR emission at 701 and 852 nm under 422 and 452 nm excitation.
