HKUMed research team has found that long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics provide better outcomes than oral antipsychotic medications—reducing relapse-related hospital admissions in schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. The study also shows that LAIs help improve patients’ long-term stability. The research is led by Professor Esther Chan Wai-yin (middle), in collaboration with Dr Eric Yan Wai-ching (left) and Professor Sherry Chan Kit-wa (right).
