Beyond BMI: A study comparing the ability of different obesity indices to identify risks for major chronic diseases (IMAGE)
Caption
A graphical overview of the ChinaHEART study comparing 15 obesity-related indices, including body-shape, visceral-fat, and metabolic measures, across cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Different indices showed distinct associations with disease risks: CVAI performed best for cardiovascular disease, TyG for diabetes, and ABSI for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, whereas all indices showed limited ability to identify cancer risk.
