Direct conversion of methane (CH4) into higher-value C2 products is essential for the green and efficient conversion of clean energy. The synthesized unsaturated metal Zr4+ site by introducing ligand defects in UiO-66 enables the direct oxidation of methane to acetic acid, owing to efficiently activation of C–H bond and C–C coupling restricting. This research provides novel insights and methodologies for developing highly efficient catalysts for the catalytic oxidation of methane to C2 chemicals.
