CCR4-NOT Jumping gene repressor (IMAGE)
Caption
New research has identified a new role for a complex of proteins — CCR4-NOT — as a suppressor of jumping gene activity. When CCR4-NOT is present in a cell (top) it helps regulate the expression of KZFP proteins which normally repress jumping gene activity. A new study has now shown that when CCR4-NOT is experimentally knocked down in the cell, KZFP expression is reduced, allowing jumping gene activity to increase.
