Tiktaalik reconstruction (IMAGE)
Caption
Reconstruction of the skeleton of Tiktaalik roseae, a 375-million-year-old fossil fish. New research using modern stugeon as an analogue suggests that stem tetrapods, like Tiktaalik, and the earliest land animals had stiff necks, not the flexible necks that scientists have long believed.
