Bioinspired photothermal-electrothermal surface for all-weather anti-icing and de-icing (IMAGE)
Caption
Schematic illustration of the bioinspired PTESS design and its all-weather anti-icing and de-icing mechanism. Hemispherical microscale structures are fabricated on an Fe-based amorphous alloy substrate by selective laser melting, followed by deposition of a nanostructured WO3 layer. The hierarchical surface provides superhydrophobicity and passive ice inhibition, while photothermal heating operates under solar illumination and electrothermal heating provides active de-icing under weak-light or dark conditions.
