Overview of tNIRS treatment paradigm

Experiment flow chart. Participants were divided into a phototherapy group and a sham stimulation group, both undergoing 15 d of intervention. Preparation occurred 10 min before each intervention, and safety assessment was performed within 10 min of the intervention. tNIRS group—Day 1: Underwent fMRI, TMS–EEG, and neuropsychological assessments, followed by phototherapy initiation. Days 2 to 14: Received only phototherapy. Day 15: After phototherapy, underwent fMRI, TMS–EEG, and neuropsychological assessments. Day 75: Underwent only neuropsychological assessments. Sham group—Day 1: Underwent neuropsychological assessments followed by sham stimulation. Days 2 to 14: Received only sham stimulation. Day 15: After sham stimulation, underwent neuropsychological assessments. After each session, study personnel checked for adverse reactions and documented them.
