Kirwan, Ph.D., is the principal investigator of a recently published clinical trial showing that people with type 2 diabetes were much more likely to achieve remission after weight-loss surgery than after intensive medical and lifestyle management. Kirwan is executive director of the University of Oklahoma Health Harold Hamm Diabetes Center.
