Tau accumulation in the globus pallidus is associated with clinical progression in progressive supranuclear palsy

The left panel shows the distribution of tau accumulation in patients with PSP at baseline and its increase over 1 year. The globus pallidus (GP) showed prominent tau accumulation and longitudinal increase. The right panel illustrates the relationship between GP tau accumulation and changes in PSP Rating Scale scores. Patients with greater increases in GP tau accumulation tended to show greater worsening of clinical symptoms.
