Tracking cervicovaginal fluid proteins day by day in EARLY-PREG (IMAGE)
Caption
In a study published in Scientific Reports, researchers at MELISA Institute compared two proteomics methods using the same 42 samples from the EARLY-PREG preconception cohort. Each of the six participants provided one sample per day for seven consecutive days during a cycle without conception. With dia-PASEF, the team quantified 4,229 proteins, compared with 2,817 using dda-FracOffline (about 50% more). Measurements were more consistent with dia-PASEF, which also detected more proteins whose levels differed from those measured on the first day. The method provides a basis for future research on fertility, the earliest stages of pregnancy, and potential biomarkers of gynecological disease.
