Concept of the dual-mode smart packaging film for meat freshness monitoring

The developed packaging film detects ammonia and other volatile basic compounds produced during meat spoilage. The film responds through both visible color changes and fluorescence activation under UV light, allowing convenient freshness monitoring under different environmental conditions. The technology combines sensing, preservation, and sustainability functions within a single biodegradable packaging platform.
