Gene Expression in Colon Cancer

β-catenin (green) and MSI1 (red) are differently expressed in tumors (left portion of each panel) compared to normal tissue. While the APC-Wnt-β-catenin pathway has long been implicated in colon cancer, the new study shows that MSI1 and its relative MSI2 are part of a separate pathway that is also necessary and sufficient to drive colon cancer.
