These are Egyptian fruit bats in their roost, a cave in central Israel. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the 27 March 2015, issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, by Y. Prat at Tel Aviv University in Tel Aviv, Israel, and colleagues was titled, 'Vocal learning in a social mammal: Demonstrated by isolation and playback experiments in bats.'
