In 2015, RIO Journal was launched to provide a niche that had long been missing, namely the publication of early, intermediate and generally unconventional research outcomes from across the research cycle (e.g. grant proposals, data management plans, project deliverables, reports, policy briefs, conference materials) in a formal scientific journal.
