Remnants of a Supernova in the Constellation Cassiopeia, Cas A

In fossil remnants of so-called magnetotactic bacteria researchers at the Technische Universitaet Muenchen have found the iron isotope Fe-60. Because it is almost exclusively produced in supernovae like Cas A this is a first biological evidence of a supernova in our cosmic neighborhood.
