In this 2017 photo, an SM-2 missile launches and destroys an airborne training target during a successful test of the AEGIS Baseline 9 Weapon System aboard the guided-missile cruiser USS Mobile Bay. In 2019, the Navy participated in the AEGIS Virtual Twin project--which involved the tactical deployment of a virtualized AEGIS Weapon System as a digital twin to the existing physical one.
