Using LRZ's SuperMUC supercomputer, a joint research team from the Technical University of Munich and Ludwigs-Maximilians-Uni Munich were able to create the largest multiphysics simulation of an earthquake and tsunami. This image shows rupture propagation and the resulting seismic wave field during 2004 Sumatra-Andaman earthquake.
