Aqua image of Edouard (IMAGE) NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center Caption On July 6 at 1:45 a.m. EDT (0545 UTC), the MODIS instrument aboard NASA's Aqua satellite gathered temperature information about Tropical Storm Edouard's cloud tops. MODIS found a small area of powerful thunderstorms (red) where temperatures were as cold as or colder than minus 70 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 56.6 Celsius). MODIS also showed westerly wind shear was pushing the bulk of clouds northeast of the storm's center.
