The head of the EV71 pocket factor (green) interacts with polar residues whereas the Poliovirus pocket factor (orange) is entirely within the hydrophobic environment of the pocket. This image relates to a paper that appeared in the March 1, 2012, issue of Science Express, published by AAAS. The paper, by P. Plevka at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., and colleagues was titled, "Crystal Structure of Human Enterovirus 71."
