This is a female Anopheles gambiae mosquito taking a bloodmeal. This material relates to a paper that appeared in the Feb. 27, 2015 issue of Science, published by AAAS. The paper, Sara N. Mitchell at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, MA, and colleagues was titled, "Evolution of sexual traits influencing vectorial capacity in anopheline mosquitoes."
