Galapagos Shark (IMAGE)
Caption
A Galapagos shark (Carcharhinus galapagensis), seen here swimming in Hawaiian waters, is a rare sight in Brazil. The species is thought to have been fished to regional extinction in Brazilian fisheries. Scientists are asking Brazilian officials to work with stakeholders to craft fisheries regulations before more species are lost forever.
